ALIBETOPIAS 2025 strengthens collaboration through the Living Lab model promoted by the FOODPathS project

ALIBETOPIAS 2025 once again consolidated its role as the benchmark event for innovation and sustainability in the Spanish Food and Drink sector. Organized by the Spanish Food and Drink Federation (FIAB), together with the Technological Platform Food for Life Spain and with the collaboration of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the event took place on October 21st in Madrid under the theme Innovation, Sustainability and Digitalization.
This 11th edition gathered more than 250 professionals from across the agri-food value chain — including industry representatives, researchers, academics, public institutions, and associations — offering a unique opportunity to share experiences, foster dialogue, and co-create solutions for a more resilient and sustainable food system.
Within this collaborative environment, the FOODPathS project was showcased as a leading example of how the Living Lab model can drive transformation across Europe’s food systems. The initiative promotes a multi-actor approach that connects diverse stakeholders — from producers and companies to policymakers and consumers — to jointly design, test, and scale innovative practices that contribute to the transition towards sustainability.

Throughout the event, FIAB actively disseminated FOODPathS materials in the exhibitors’ area and engaged participants in discussions about how Living Labs can serve as open, participatory spaces where innovation emerges from real-world challenges and cross-sector collaboration. The approach was presented as key to strengthening the European ecosystem of Food System Living Labs and the Communities of Practice fostered by FOODPathS.
The conference also included the Ecotrophelia and Startup 2025 awards ceremonies, recognizing the most promising technological entrepreneurs in the food industry. This celebration, held in the framework of ALIBETOPIAS, reflected the event’s commitment to connecting innovation with practical implementation — one of the fundamental pillars of the Living Lab philosophy embraced by FOODPathS.
ALIBETOPIAS 2025 once again proved to be a catalyst for dialogue and collaboration, reaffirming its position as a meeting point for the food innovation ecosystem. Through initiatives such as FOODPathS, the event continues to promote a systemic and participatory vision of innovation that bridges science, industry, and society in the transition towards more sustainable healthy, and fair food systems.
