The event gathered a diverse set of global stakeholders around the theme: “Overcoming the Barriers to Food Systems Transformation – Coherent Policies and Equity-sensitive Solutions to Simultaneously Fight Hunger and Malnutrition, Biodiversity Loss and the Climate Crisis.”

As one of the co-organising partners, FOODPathS contributed to shaping the dialogue on future-fit food systems by leading a dedicated workshop titled: “Addressing Trade-offs and Promoting Co-benefits”

This session, facilitated by FOODPathS partners from INRAE and ICLEI, explored how to navigate the often complex trade-offs that arise when pursuing environmental, health, and social goals within food systems. It highlighted concrete examples of  strategies to maximise co-benefits—ensuring that food systems transformation is not only sustainable, but also fair, inclusive, and effective.

The broader conference programme emphasized:

  • Policy coherence across food, climate, biodiversity, trade, and finance;

  • Equity-sensitive solutions such as sustainable public procurement and rights-based approaches;

  • Inclusive participation and knowledge co-creation across all levels of governance.

The conference served as a key milestone ahead of the UN Food Systems Summit +4 Stocktaking Moment and COP30, positioning food systems at the heart of climate and development negotiations.
